Patricia A. Pennell, age 67, of Marion, passed away on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Carolina Healthcare Blue Ridge in Morganton, NC. Patricia was born in Perkins Camp, WV on March 16, 1951 to the late Ernest and Mildred Rippeth. She was a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.

Patricia worked at Hardee’s during the age of the true made from scratch biscuits, in which she retired from in 2010. She was a strong willed woman, who was very caring, and always made sure everyone was well fed. Patricia had a passion for animals, and loved to watch jeopardy.

She loved to talk and tell stories, but most of all her son will miss the witty sense of humor they shared. Patricia is proceeded in death by her husband Steven Lee Pennell, Sr.; Three brothers, Dave Rippeth, Ernest Rippeth Jr, and Robert Rippeth; and a sister Celia Johnson. Left behind to cherish her memory is her two sons, Brian Pennell and wife Mai Ka of Morganton, NC, and Steven Pennell Jr. and wife Shawna of Burnsville, NC; two sisters, Sharon Meadows and husband Noah of Bradshaw, WV, and Peggy Roberts of Princeton, WV; two brothers, Larkin Rippeth of Bradshaw, WV, and Billy Rippeth and wife Anita of West Virginia; a sister-in-law, Betty Rippeth of Virginia; and three grandchildren, Brittany and Hayden Pennell, and Kourtney Carroll; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will have a gathering of friends and family on Saturday, July 7, 2018 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at Westmoreland Funeral Home of Marion, NC. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made in Patricia’s name to the American Diabetes Association at P.O. Box 15829, Arlington, VA 22215.
