Jetta Jean Webb Walker , April 09, 1932 — September 21, 2018

Jetta Jean Webb Walker, age 86, of Marion, North Carolina passed away peacefully Friday, September 21, 2018 at the Mitchell House in Spruce Pine, NC surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Walker was born April 9, 1932 in McDowell County. As a young wife and mother, she was active as a Sunday School teacher and Girl Scout Leader.

She also enjoyed singing with the Sweet Adelines. She was a long-standing member of Cross Memorial Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and was active with the Young at Heart. She enjoyed embroidery, sewing and gardening in her flowers.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, Carl Lee Walker, Sr., five brothers and one sister. Those left behind to cherish Mrs. Walker’s memories are four children, Sherri W. Owenby (Mike), April W. Hollifield (Michael), Robin Walker and Sy Walker (Kimberly); six grandchildren, Christopher Owenby, Leslie McPeters, Laura Beth Nanney, LeAnn Owenby, Layla Sabah and Leesha White; and nine great-grandchildren, Macy McPeters, Adam Owenby, Kayley Owenby, Kassidy Owenby, Kinsley Owenby, Jacob Owenby, Clayton Nanney, Brookelyn Nanney and Taylor White; one sister-in-law, Betty Webb; a special church friend, Diane Gouge; special friends from the Mitchell House, Jessica and Dana; a special niece, Cindy Hollifield; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at Cross Memorial Baptist Church. A funeral service to celebrate Mrs. Walker’s life will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the church with Rev. Doug Prevette, Rev.

David Edwards and Rev. Ryan Bennett officiating. Burial will follow the service at Cross Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery.
