Vinna Noblitt Rice , May 14, 1935 — September 08, 2018

Vinna Noblitt Rice, age 83, of Marion, passed away Saturday, September 8, 2018 at Autumn Care of Marion. Vinna was born in Marion on May 14, 1935 to the late Lawrence H. and Cora Poteat Noblitt. She and her husband Troy owned a restaurant near Burnett’s Landing at the North Fork of the Catawba River.

After he died, she worked at the River Breeze Fish Camp and at 4 Oaks Fish Camp in Old Fort. Outgoing and feisty, one never had to wonder where one stood with her as she would let you know in no uncertain terms. She loved working with the public and if she called you her friend you could count on her.

Vinna loved her flowers, especially roses. Her husband, Garrett Rice, a daughter, Carolyn Roberts Silvers, and a son, John Frank Roberts, Sr., preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Floyd J. Noblitt, a sister, Nora N. Woody and her husband Arval and her brother-in-law, Emmett C. Webb.

Surviving are her sister, Barbara Noblitt Webb; five grandchildren, Chris Cheek, Jamie Silvers and wife Amanda, LaChanda Swofford and husband Michael, John Frank Roberts, Jr. and wife Susie, and Nakiesha Lodin and husband Nathan; nine great-grandchildren; special niece and nephew, Pegi Webster and Roger Webb; and a daughter-in-law, Lynn Roberts. A graveside service will take place on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at McDowell Memorial Park where she will be laid to rest beside her former husband, Troy Parker.
