John Clingman Cole, Jr., age 90, of Marion, North Carolina went to be with the Lord Sunday, September 2, 2018 at Rose Hill Retirement Community. John was born January 21, 1928 in Swain County, NC to the late John Clingman Cole, Sr and Emeline Woody Cole. He was a Korean Conflict veteran of the United States Army and was a member of Cross Memorial Baptist Church.

He enjoyed gardening and taking walks in the woods. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his wife, Ann Cline Cole and four siblings, Robert Cole, , Gene Cole, Keith Cole and Elizabeth C. Bradburn. Those left behind to cherish John’s memories are two sons, Dennis Cole and wife Teresa and Randy Cole and wife, Roselle; three grandchildren, Lisa Atkinson and husband, Thomas, John Paul Cole and wife, Crystal and Kim Freeman and husband, Terry; five great grandchildren, Krista, Olivia, Andrew, Avery and Brycen; two siblings, Leonard Cole and Christine Proctor; a special caregiver, Christy Callahan; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at Beam Funeral Service. A funeral service to celebrate John’s life will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at McDowell Memorial Park.
