Mrs. Linda Thomas Myers, age 68, of Old Fort, passed away Thursday, July 5, 2018 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals in Asheville after several years of declining health. Linda was born in McDowell County on May 7, 1950 to the late Frank Thomas and Shirley Renfro Thomas. She was retired from Kearfott Corporation in Swanannoa.

Independent and hardworking, she raised her son with caring love and was very proud of him. Linda had spunk, as anyone who knew her could attest, and yet she had an inner beauty that was undeniable. Her artistic talents were fulfilled by drawing and making jewelry but her competitive impulses could only be diminished by an evening of UFC Championship fights or rooting for Dale Earnhart.

Linda was also a member of the Black Mountain Moose Lodge and the Rte. 70 Cruisers out of Old Fort. Loved by many, Linda will be missed by all who knew her.

She leaves behind her son, Troy McCormick and wife Tricia of Old Fort; her brother, Michael Thomas and wife Teresa of Old Fort; two beloved grandsons, Caleb Harding and Cameron McCormick; and several nieces and nephews. A service of remembrance and celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, July 8, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Westmoreland Funeral Service in Old Fort with Rev. Jimmy Upton officiating.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Flowers are appreciated, however, those wishing to make a memorial contribution in her memory are encouraged to consider the American Lung Association at 514 Daniels Street # 109, Raleigh, NC 27605.
