Paul Cable, age 97, of Marion, passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at Deer Park Health & Rehabilitation after a short period of declining health. Paul was born in Swain County on April 18, 1921 to the late Rev. Martin Cable and Ollie Williams Cable.

When World War II began he enlisted in the U. S. Army, serving faithfully until the war ended. After leaving the service, he was an independent contractor by trade in the construction business. In his free time he enjoyed fishing and building blue bird houses for his friends and neighbors.

Paul was also a member of Sugar Hill Baptist Church. His beloved wife of 64 years, Beatrice Cook Cable, preceded him in death. Surviving are a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 27, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Westmoreland Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Michael Robinson and Rev. Bruce Ward officiating.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial, with military honors will follow in the Sugar Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society at 120 Executive Park #1, Asheville, NC 28801.
