James “Jim” M. Tetzlaff, 83, died peacefully at home cared for by his family on Dec 26, 2018. He was born August 7, 1935, in Stevens Point, WI, the only son of Conrad and Bertha (Bigulke). He graduated from P. J. Jacobs High School in Stevens Point.

Jim served four years in the U. S. Navy on the USS Currituck. He married LaVerne Boldt on July 24, 1959. Jim was a loyal and faithful man who led by example, helping anyone who asked.

He was very handy and volunteered for Habitat for Humanity. He enjoyed being in the woods, hunting, and golfing. Jim lived in Milwaukee for 5 years before settling in Appleton in 1965.

He worked at Winnebago Color Press for 15 years and Castle Pierce Oshkosh for 15 years. After retiring in 1997, Jim spent much time on Reid Golf Course and retrieved golf balls for the range. Jim is survived by his wife, two sons, Jim and John, and three daughters, Jacquelyn Tetzlaff, U. S. Air Force Major (retired) Jennifer Halter, and Jan Tetzlaff; and 8 grandchildren.

He also is survived by four sisters, Delores Kleinfelt and Betty Abbott of Arizona, Collette Christiansen of Minnesota, and Margaret (Leroy) Kazmierczak of Mosinee, WI. A memorial service will take place at 3 pm on Saturday, January 5, at the Brettschneider-Trettin-Nickel Funeral Chapel, followed immediately by military honors performed by Appleton Legion Post #38. Friends may visit at the funeral chapel on Saturday from 2 pm until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
