James “Jim” Leon Stone, 83, of Cape Girardeau, Missouri died Monday, January 14, 2019 at Lutheran Home. He was born March 30, 1935 in Oriole, Missouri to Willis Clayton and Norma Maxine Humes Stone. He and Jeannette McDowell were married May 3, 1959 at Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

He was multi-talented in so many ways. He enjoyed doing odd jobs for widows and churches and never expected anything in return. He was a member of Bethel Assembly Of God in Cape Girardeau.

Survivors include his wife, Jeannette Stone of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; three sons, James “Jimmy” Brian Stone of Cape Girardeau, Charles “Chuck” Bradley (Cindy) Stone of Cape Girardeau, David Christopher (Roxana) Stone of Springfield, Missouri; four sisters, Margaret “Sissy” Klein of St. Louis, Missouri, Shirley Brown, Dorothy “Dottie” Essner of Kelso, Missouri and Rosemary Mercer of Tuscon, Arizona; sister-in-law, Margaret Stone of Cape Girardeau; one grandchild, Andrew (Angie) Stone; three great-grandchildren, Emmalynn, Lucas, Eleanor He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, John Clayton Stone; and two brothers, Alvin Stone and John Stone. Visitation will be 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at Ford & Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 am Friday, January 25, 2019 at Ford & Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel in Cape Girardeau with the Pastor Phil Roop officiating. Private burial will be at New Lorimier Cemetery in Cape Girardeau at a later date.
