Emmett Earl Bounds Jr., 66, of Cape Girardeau, passed away Sunday evening January 13, 2019, at his home. Born January 18, 1952, in Charleston, Missouri, Emmett was the son of Emmett Bounds Sr. and Carrie Bici. He was raised in Missouri, but traveled extensively throughout Europe and Japan during his service in the US Marines.

“Butch” enjoyed gardening, fishing, attending Lutheran church, reading books on military and American history and collecting indigenous artifacts. During his lifetime, his late spouse and he rescued many cats. He was a great father to his daughter Sandy and a wonderful husband to his beloved spouse Harumi.

Survivors include his daughter Sandy Bounds, his brother Floyd Bounds, his half-brothers Eddie and Doug Hart and his half-sister, Patricia Hardesty. He was preceded in death by his spouse Harumi and both his parents Emmett and Carrie. The family will receive friends for a visitation on Friday, January 18, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. until time of funeral service, 12:00 p.m. at Ford and Sons Mt.

Auburn Funeral Home. Pastor Daniel Maske will officiate. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri.
