Timothy M. Briner, 60, of Cape Girardeau, Missouri passed away Wednesday January 30, 2019 at Saint Francis Medical Center. He was born July 10, 1958 in Saint Joseph, Missouri to Marvin E. and Shirley J. (Glidewell) Briner. Tim was a graduate of Savannah High School, Savannah, Missouri.

He and Janelle M. Smith were married June 16, 1979 in Auburn, Nebraska. Unto that union, three children were born. He served in the U.S. Army as a Combat Medic and deployed to Kuwait and Iraq during Operation Desert Storm/Desert Shield.

After his honorable discharge, Tim went on and became a graduate of Southeast Hospital College of Nursing and Health. He most recently worked as a RN Medical Case Reviewer for Evicore Healthcare. Tim was an active member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Jackson.

Tim was initiated into the degrees of masonry in 1984. At Nodaway Lodge #470, he became a dual member with Whitewater Lodge #417 where he served as Junior Warden, Senior Warden, Worshipful Master, Chaplain and currently serving as District Deputy Grand Master. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Janelle M. Briner of Cape Girardeau; three sons, Nathaniel C. Briner, Nicholas M. (Dina) Briner and Neil C. Briner (Cara VanGennip); mother, Shirley J. Briner of Lees Summit, Missouri; brother, Terry (Monica) Briner; sisters, Tina (Tracey) Rose and Tammy Davis (Mark Cosgrove); brother-in-law, Brian (Karen) Smith; grandchildren, Dane, Keyton, Sofia, Aurelia, Grant, Kinsley and Cora; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin E. Briner. Visitation will be Sunday, February 3, 2019 from 4pm-8pm at Ford & Sons Mt. Auburn Funeral Home.

A Masonic Service will be held at 7:30pm Sunday at the funeral home. Funeral service along with full military honors will be held at 10:00 am Monday, February 4 at Wesley United Methodist Church, 142 Carnation Lane, Jackson, Missouri, 63755 with Pastor Bill Minor officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Whitewater Lodge #417 (573-275-8140) which will be distributed to local charities.
