Obituary for James Long Funeral services for James Long, 79, of Frankfort, will be Friday 12:00 p.m. at LeCompte Johnson Taylor Funeral Home. Frank Layne will officiate. Visitation will be held Thursday 5:00 p.m. to 8 p.m. Mr. Long died Tuesday afternoon at his home.
He worked as a spreader for Union Underwear and later as a parts clerk for Overnight Transport. James was also a member of Versailles Church of God. He was an avid family man and loved his church.
The son of the late Mary Elizabeth Hudson and Thomas Long, he was preceded in death by his son, Tracy Long, grandson, Justin Gaines, 4 brothers and 6 sisters. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Ruth M. Long, son, Eric Long (Tara Black), and daughter, Teresa (Phillip) Grimes, both of Frankfort; grandsons, Joshua and Zachary Gaines, Jason and Luke Long, granddaughters, Gracie Long, McKenzie, Lexie and Brooklyn White, and great-grandson, Justin Gaines. Pallbearers will be Joshua Gaines, Zachary Gaines, Jason Long, Phillip Grimes, Tyler Vogler, and Scotty Willard.
Honorary pallbearers will be his grandbabies, Gracie Long, Luke Long, McKenzie White, Lexie White, Brooklyn White, and great-grandbaby Justin Gaines.
