James P. Casey Sr., 74, of Ashland, died Sunday, May 6, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 24, 1943 in Russell County, Virginia to Luther and Irene {Hess} Casey. James completed his GED while he served in the U.S. Army.

He married Carolyn “Sue” Williams on June 27, 1964. James was a truck driver until his “retirement”. He attended River of Life Community Church in Loudonville.

James loved horses, playing his guitar, and anything to do with racing cars. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 54 years; children James P. Casey, John P. (Karen) Casey ; grandchildren Jennifer Paige Casey and Nicole Shanae Casey; great-grandchildren Anakin Phyre Casey and Jycen Phaux Casey; brothers Earl and Fayne Casey; sisters-in-law Betty Davis, Joyce Church, Ruth Ann Owens, and their families; special niece Sheila Grimes; family friend Shonda Phillips. James was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Leon Casey.

Friends may call Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Ashland Chapel, Ashland. Services will be Friday at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Darol Davis and Pastor Hetzel See Jr. officiating. Burial will be at Ashland County Memorial Park, where military rites will be held.
