James “Paul” Nees, 77, of Burlington, died at 3:00 PM Tuesday, September 11, 2018, at the Prairie Ridge Care & Rehabilitation in Mediapolis. Born July 19, 1941, in Burlington, he was the son of Ralph L. and Viva M. Bowman Nees. On June 16, 1961, he married Gloria Jean Orton in Burlington.

She passed on January 18, 1999. Paul worked for J. I. Case Company for 27 3/4 years, he retired in 1992. He graduated from Burlington High School in 1959.

He was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). He enjoyed his hobbies of amateur radio and model air planes. Survivors include his daughter, Melody Nees of Burlington; one niece, Dale Schlueter of Burlington; and special friend, Earlene Weiss of Burlington.

Besides his wife, he is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Donald Nees. Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh~Thielen Crematory. There will be no visitation or services.
