Halfway, MD – James R. Elliott, 77, of Halfway, MD passed away on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Doey’s House Hagerstown, MD. He was born on July 3, 1941 in Berkeley County, WV to the late Rosby Charles and Georgia Ileane Unger Elliott. He was a 1960 graduate of Boonsboro High School Boonsboro, MD.

He retired after 20 years with the U.S. Army. He was previously the owner and operator of Tri-State Energy Corporation in Hagerstown, MD for many years. He also worked Security at the Washington County Courthouse and Department of Social Services in Hagerstown, MD.

James was a member of BPOE #378 Hagerstown, MD; Conococheague Tribe #84 IORM Williamsport, MD; Dixon-Troxell American Legion Post #211 Funkstown, MD; and VFW Post #1936 of Hagerstown, MD. He is survived by his wife of 50 years Sigrid E. Arnold Elliott; brother Ishmael Elliott of Hagerstown, MD; sister Ester Slayman of Smithsburg, MD; wonderful friends and neighbors Jeff and Shana Ringer, Marie Savko, Bill and Ruth Shilling, and Terri and Gene Mumma. He was predeceased by his son Arron James Elliott and his brother William Brown Elliott.

The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 from 10:00 am – 12:00 (noon). Graveside services will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery Hagerstown, MD on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at 2:00 pm with Randy Fisher officiating. Military honors will be provided by Joint Veterans Council of Washington County and Marine Corps League of Hagerstown, MD.
