James Rance Hunter, 86, passed away Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Concord Place Senior Living in Concord. He was born June 19, 1931, son of the late Floyd Wesley Hunter and Reecie McCray Hunter. J.R. was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Alma Plott Hunter; brothers, Floyd Benton Hunter, and Larry Wayne Hunter; and sister, Peggy Dellinger Mullis.

He is survived by daughter; Lin Tilman (Larry) of Charlotte, grandson, Chad ( Holly) of Charlotte; granddaughters, Kayla, and Carlisle; brothers, Lance of Stanfield, and Jerry of Locust. He is also survived by his sister, Bobbie Sue Hunter of Locust. J.R. retired from Pelton Crane of Charlotte after 40 years.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at 2pm in Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis with Military honors. A visitation will be held at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord on May 1, 2018 from 1:00pm until 1:45pm. Memorials may be made to the donors choice.
