Shirley Long Johnson entered the arms of Jesus on April 18, 2018. She was 82 years old. Born on May 9, 1935 to Merl and Louise Long.

Shirley met the love of her life, James Thomas Johnson, as a teen and they were married 54 years until his death in January 2008. Together, they raised their two sons on a dairy farm for many years. Shirley was a light to all that knew her and a perfect example of a Godly woman, wife and mother.

She attended Queens College and worked for a land surveyor for many years. She truly had a passion for studying and teaching his word. She enjoyed teaching bible lessons to numerous classes of all ages for many, many years.

Shirley had a sense of humor; her laughter would fill the room and was a of encouragement for many. Shirley was also preceded in death by her parent and sister Virginia Herrin. She is also survived by her sons, Chris Johnson and wife Melanie and Jimmy Johnson and wife Chris Ann; grandchildren, Heather Molatch and husband Graham, Cody Johnson and wife Morgan; great-grandchildren, Andi Grace and Lydia Molatch.

The family will receive family and friends at 11:00 a.m. on April 21 at Back Creek AR Presbyterian Church (Charlotte, NC) followed by services at 12:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to Back Creek Church and Tucker Hospice House of Kannapolis, NC.
