Obituary for James Richard Judd James Richard Judd, 89, of New Castle passed away Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at the Waters of New Castle. He was born September 5, 1929 in Orange County, IN to the late Ernest and Emma (Dunn) Judd. He was a corporal in the U.S. Army serving in the Korean Conflict and was awarded the Purple Heart.

James attended night classes at Marion College for Wesleyan Elder’s Ordination and received his local preacher’s license in 1956. He pastored at Shirley Faith Chapel – Interdenominational, Mechanicsburg Wesleyan, Elwood P Street Wesleyan, Lapel Wesleyan, Fishersburg Wesleyan and Frankton Wesleyan. He is survived by his children, Richard (Linda) Judd of Ellettsville, IN, Sharon Alexander of New Castle and Sandra Judd of Bloomington, IN; grandchildren, Melissa Judd of Sunman, IN, Courtney Judd of Bloomington, IN, Ciara Dupke of Muncie, Raegan Dupke of New Castle and Dustin Underwood of Ellettsville, IN; great grandchildren, Bri Judd of Ellettsville, IN, Jaxson Judd Smith of Sunman, IN and Aria Dupke of Muncie; great great-grandson: Myles Chandler of Bloomington; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Vernia (Patton) Judd, a baby brother, Lloyd Judd, sisters, Marie Judd, Murel Haven and Lucille Dearborn, grandchildren, Christopher Judd and Maggie Dupke. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at Memorial Wesleyan Church with Pastors Paul Kirk, Ernest Batman and Randy Badgley officiating. Burial will follow in McCray Cemetery in Wilkinson.

Visitation will be from 4 – 8 p.m. Monday, September 24th at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle and an hour prior to the services at the church. Memorial contributions may be sent to Henry County Hospice, 798 N. 16th St., New Castle, IN 47362 or Unitas International, PO Box 506, Shirley, IN 47384. Military graveside rites will be conducted by a contingent of the U.S. Army and Knightstown American Legion.
