James’ Obituary ROCKFORD – James “Jim” Robert Thomson, age 53, of Rockford passed away in his home on Tuesday May 14, 2019 with his wife at his side. Born in Rockford on January 19, 1966 the son of Bob & Ruth (Maas) Thomson. Jim married Kathleen Cruz, in Rockford on January 23, 1998.

Jim’s heart was on the farm with his Uncle Clayton & Aunt Dort, but he worked as a heavy equipment operator for many years in the Rockford area. Jim was a kind, caring, loving and hardworking man that would help anyone. Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and dear friend; he will remain in our hearts forever.

He is survived by wife, Kathleen Thomson; stepdaughter, Kristen (Rene) Rodriguez; sisters, Kathryn Thomson & Mary (Mark) Norman; brother, Tim Thomson; sisters-in-law, Mary Cruz, Grace (Don) Bailey; grandchildren, Jarvis, Jasmin, Anthony, Vinny and Gigi; numerous nieces & nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Predeceased by grandmother, Emma Thomson, parents Bob & Ruth Thomson, sister-in-law, Rita Elizando, stepson, Pete Chemello, and several aunts and uncles. The family would like to Thank Amber and the staff at Heartland Hospice and dear friend, Renee Taylor-Geddes for their loving care and support.

Celebration of Life Memorial held on Tuesday May 21, 2019 at Christenson Funeral Home, 925 3rd Ave. Rockford from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM. Christenson Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
