Obituary for Jane P. Petrucelli Jane Paddock Petrucelli, 74, passed away unexpectedly at home on December 14th, 2018. Born in Springfield, Massachusetts on February 6th, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Charles Loveland and Marjorie Doyle Paddock. Jane was a longtime resident of Meriden, and most recently resided in Colchester.
Jane was a Physical Education teacher at O.H. Platt High School for over 30 years. Jane was an active member of the Christian Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Colchester, CT. She was an avid world traveler in her retirement.
She was a gifted interior decorator, as well as a superb landscape designer. Jane was well-versed and well-read, and her favorite conversations revolved around Biblical discussions. One always came away feeling enlightened and warmer in heart.
She also spent her time caring for and loving her dog Siobhan. Jane was a collector of antiques, and her home was a place of rest, comfort, and peace, with everything well placed with a precise meaning. In her earlier years, Jane was well-known for her beautiful voice and was often heard singing as a soloist at St. Rose in Meriden.
She also sang with The Troupe with the Hartford Opera Company. Jane was also blessed with an artistic ability and was often found in front of a canvas with a brush in hand. Jane was most known for her work teaching the young ones of Meriden how to swim.
Jane was a water safety instructor and trained thousands at Hamden High School, Hubbard Park, The YMCA, Meriden Park and Rec, and the Girls Club of Meriden. Jane also trained hundreds of lifeguards at Platt High School. Jane was a caring, warm, and eloquent lady with strength beyond measure.
She is survived by her loving sons John Petrucelli and his fiancée Holly Idec; Brian Petrucelli and his wife Megan; also Joanne Petrucelli; Romana Petrucelli; her granddaughters Lexi and Ariana; her sister Cindi Birdsey and brother-in-law Bob; her brother Charles Paddock and sister-in-law Sandie; her brother Kevin Paddock and sister-in-law Suzanne. Jane is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins who loved her dearly. She was predeceased by her brother Timothy S. Paddock.
Friends and relatives may call Friday, December 21st, 2018 between 3 pm and 7 pm at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home 88 East Main St. Meriden, CT. A memorial talk will be held on Saturday, December 22nd, 2018 at 2 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses 297 Westchester Rd, Colchester, CT 06415. Burial will be private.
