GREENFIELD – Janet Kay (Jacobi) Waitt, age 78, of Greenfield, passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at Hancock Regional Hospital. She was born in Indianapolis on November 27, 1940 to Lewis and Kathryn (Lewis) Jacobi. She graduated from New Palestine High School in 1958.

Janet married Walter Waitt on September 23, 1989 in New Palestine. She worked for Navistar in Indianapolis from 1959-1998. Janet was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Greenfield Kiwanis and New Palestine United Church.

She was a board member for Meals on Wheels and woman’s fund member with the Hancock County Community Foundation. She enjoyed playing euchre and reading. Janet most of all loved her family and being a grammy.

Janet is survived by her husband, Walter Waitt; son, Jeff (Shelli) Kindred; step-son, John (Jennifer) Waitt; step-daughters, Melinda (Andy) Hunnicutt, Tammy (Fred) Fox, and Salliann Flake; 12 grandchildren, Emilie, Madison, Jacob, Amanda, Abby, Becca, Savannah, Chase, Trace, Ann, Demi, and Olivia; great-grandchild, Iris; sisters, Carol (Larry) Sullivan and Barbara (Steve) Smith and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Kathryn Jacobi. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2019, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy.

40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at the mortuary. Pastor Roger Holder will be officiating.

Burial will follow at New Palestine Cemetery in New Palestine. Memorial contributions may be made by mail to the Hancock Regional Hospital Foundation – Hospice, 801 N. Main Street, Greenfield, IN 46140 or Meals on Wheels, 1133 W. Main Street Suite C, Greenfield, IN 46140. Envelopes will be available at the mortuary.
