Jason Lee Pettainen June 12, 1971 – February 16, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| Memorial Donation After a long battle with cancer, Jason gained his wings and was called home on February 16, 2019. Jason Lee Pettainen, was born at Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen Washington on the 12th day of June 1971. An only child, who was spoiled accordingly and loved by his family and friends.
In his younger years, Jason loved playing football and driving around in his lowrider Mazda pick-up truck. He often enjoyed attending local raceways with his mother and hunting trips with his father. Some of his favorite memories were gathering with family at his grandmother’s house on holidays.
As adulthood set in, he found peace being on the local rivers and lakes kayaking with his best friend. Jason’s pride and joy came in the time he was able to spend with his sons and bonding with them. He loved taking long drives, while embracing in meaningful conversations and exploring outdoors.
He found solitude and comfort out in the yard and keeping things tidy and up kept. Jason often found himself lost in thought while watching his beloved hummingbirds, he enjoyed animals and was always drawn to his friends’ house pets. Jason’s humor was one of a kind, he spent his down time laughing away on social media, collecting and sharing meme’s.
He loved writing poems and often shared his heart of gold in many notebooks. Above all, he always found solace while being in the company of his friends and family. Jason graduated from Aberdeen High School in 1990, and joined the U.S. Army.
While in the military he was stationed at Fort Stewart, Georgia. After his time served in the Army, he returned to the Pacific Northwest in 1996 and worked in various locations such as the Westport Shipyard and security at the mill. He also worked a fishing season in Alaska.
In 2000 he started work at Weyerhaeuser out of Lacey Washington until 2008. He later returned to the harbor to help assist his grandmother in her later years. After returning to the harbor, he started work with the Hoquiam School District driving school bus and also worked part time doing security for a local establishment.
He followed his driving career and continued on to drive for the Community Hospital and Grays Harbor Transit until he became ill. It was during this time that he connected with Summers Family and shared a bond that helped him during his battle with cancer. His best friend stood by his side until his last day.
Jason is survived by his sons, Kasey Dylan Johnson (Pettainen), his triplet boys, Jonah A. Pettainen, Mattan A. Pettainen and Jarius L. Pettainen; his aunts, Barb Strote of Ketchikan Alaska, Norene Johnson of Olympia Washington and Kris Block of California, an uncle, John Pettainen and other relatives. Jason was preceded in death by his parents, George and Carol (Block) Pettainen; his grandparents, Tex and Ada Block, George and Imogene Pettainen; his uncles, Mike Pettainen and Lowell Conover; his aunt, Georgina Pettainen and his cousin, Tiffany Conover. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for March 30, 2019, Saturday at 1:00 pm at the Hoquiam V.F.W., 407 – 7th Street in Hoquiam.
