Obituary of Jasper Mazar JASPER J. MAZAR Menands-Jasper J. “Jack” Mazar, 73 of Menands, entered into eternal life on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at the Community Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany. Born in Binghamton, NY on February 9, 1945, he was the son of the late William S. and Mary T. (Acquaviva) Mazar. He was raised and educated in Binghamton.

His family moved to Lachine, Quebec where Jack furthered his education. It is from there he entered the United States Army. He served his country honorably and was always proud of his service.

He served in Germany during the Vietnam Era , and has maintained a strong interest in the Military ever since. In 1968 he went to work for Thompson Associates in Windsor, CT as their lead graphic art/design. He was promoted to Vice President and opened the Thompson Associates Branch in Waltham, MA.

He next ventured into the restaurant business and became the proprietor of BJ Jaspers Restaurant and Grill in 1974 located in Lowell MA in operation until the early 1990’s. Jack then went to work beside his sister Annmarie Ellis in the operation of the Steuben Club. Most recently Jack worked for the NYS Comptroller in Albany as a consultant until the time of his passing.

He was a history buff and loved to travel to historical places and especially loved reading about the Civil War era. Jack loved skiing and golfing (in his younger years). He was a member of the Graphic Arts Association in Boston, the Elks Lodge in Chelmsford, MA and a member of The National Museum United States Army.

Survivors include his daughter Melissa Mazar of North Brookfield, MA his dear siblings Annmarie (Herb) M. Ellis of Menands, NY and William S. (Marybeth) Mazar Jr. of Valrico, FL, his former wife Joan Mazar of North Brookfield, MA. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held Wednesday November 28, at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham with Rev.

Kenneth Paulli OFM of Siena College officiating at 2:00 pm. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home after 1:00 pm. prior to the service by Father Paulli at 2:00 p.m. Interment will immediately follow the service in Albany Rural Cemetery in Menands.
