On Wednesday, January 16, 2019, Jean Ann Fochtman, loving wife and mother of five children passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family at the age of 89. Jean was born on April 26, 1929 in Indianapolis, Indiana to William and Bertha McMahon. On November 28, 1950, she married David L. Fochtman.

Jean met David in Petoskey while she summered on Crooked Lake. They raised two daughters, Paula and Elizabeth, and three sons, Scott, Thomas (TJ) and Craig. Jean was a member of the Bay View Country Club and retiree from Cutler’s Gift Shop.

She was a brilliant bridge player. She was known for her quick wit, infectious smile and her compassionate spirit. Jean was proceeded in death by her parents, William and Bertha, sister Diane, her son William and grandson Zak.

She is survived by her five children Paula, Scott, Thomas, Craig and Elizabeth, nine grandchildren Luke, Ryan, Megan, Natalie, Julia, Joshua, Tripp, Nate, and Charlie, and one great grandchild Mason.
