A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, 10:00 AM, at the Cathedral of Saint Columba for Jean C. Horney, formerly of Boardman, who died peacefully on October 17, 2018, in New Port Richey, Florida. She was born on June 18, 1918 in Youngstown, Ohio, a daughter of Raymond and Victoria Bishop. Jean married Michael Horney, the love of her life, for nearly fifty years until his passing on November 17, 1999.

Jean was employed at Metal Carbides Company where she was the first woman to represent the members of her union at the company. She was an avid traveler and loved to play bingo. She leaves behind, to cherish her many memories, her sister-in-law, Mary Polando; her many nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews including Phyllis (Terry) Pixler of New Port Richey, Florida, with whom she made her home; Michael and Marilyn Mirabella of Jacksonville, Armand (Sue) Buccieri of New Port Richey, Florida; Paul (Toni Lynn) Polando of Clermont, Florida; and, the Very Reverend Monsignor Peter M. Polando.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents and husband, along with her sisters, Frances Mirabella, Lucille Wallace, Helen Eisler and brothers, Mitchell and Adolph Bishop. Per her wishes, there are no calling hours and she requested that Mass offering be made to Saint Dominic Church, Youngstown, her beloved parish. Arrangements have been made by The Fox Funeral Home.
