John “Sonny” L. Cappitte YOUNGSTOWN – John L. Cappitte, 81, Passed away Friday early morning, October 12, 2018 at Oasis Nursing Home. Mr. Cappitte was born November 5, 1936 in Youngstown, Ohio. A son of the late Samuel J. Cappitte and June A. (Fleischer) Cappitte.

John served in the United State Marine Corp from 1954 to 1957. He was self employed in construction. He loved spending time with his family, enjoyed fishing, going to bingo and the casino.

John also loved his pets. John leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 61 years Kathleen (Davis) Cappitte who he married May 18, 1957. Three sons, John (Colleen) Cappitte Jr. of Columbus, Edward (Cindy) Cappitte of Youngstown, and Steven (Lori) Cappitte of Campbell.

Two daughters, Kim Cappitte of Youngstown and Kristina (George) Kimbrough of Austintown. A daughter-in-law, Wendi Cappitte of Boardman. Brothers, Samuel (Rose) Cappitte Jr., Daniel (Joann) Cappitte, Billy Cappitte and partner Doug.

Three sisters Elizabeth (Al) Panno, Beverly (Frank) Pazel and June Lincoln. John also leaves his beloved dog “Baby” and cat “Molly”, 19 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, a son Russell A Cappitte who passed away March 11, 2009 and a sister Ruth Cappitte.

There will be no services or calling hours per Mr. Cappitte’s wishes. All arrangements have been entrusted to the Directors at the Conley and Vanden Berg Funeral Home.
