Obituary of Jeanne Gates Jeanne W. Gates, 97, of Cuyahoga Falls, went home peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, October 26, 2018. Jeanne was the daughter of Georgia Doremus West and Charles Leroy West. She was born in Alliance, Ohio on August 13, 1921.

Jeanne grew up in Alliance with her twin brother, James, and older brother Jack. She graduated from Alliance High School in 1939. After graduating from Seton Hill College in 1944, she worked as a registered dietician at St. Thomas Hospital in Akron.

Later, after raising her children, she worked for 20 years as a clinical dietician at Cuyahoga Falls General Hospital. Jeanne was a loving mother and grandmother who invested volumes of time and attention in the lives of each of her children and grandchildren. She infuenced so many through her grace and kindness.

Her faith in God was the hallmark of her life, and it motivated her daily to befriend and care for others. In her later years, Jeanne became an avid sports fan. She loyally supported the Cleveland Indians and Cavaliers, and she loved to watch professional golf and college basketball.

Her husband, E. Glenn Gates, preceded her in death. Jeanne is survived by her three children; son Douglas Gates of Cuyahoga Falls, and daughterd MarySue Watson of Akron, and Kristine MacDermott of Charlotte, North Carolina; eight grandchildren: Ryan, Emily, Brandon, Meredith, Katy, Jenny, Michael, and Benjamin; and ten great-grandchildren: Lincoln, Lydia, Henry, Grace, Cole, Ella, Ethan, Vera, Lauren, and Logan. These few words do not begin to describe the depth and quality of the woman for whom faith, commitment, family, and devotion meant so much.

Nor can they portray the vast number of lives that she impacted through friendship and example. Friends are invited to Church in the Falls, 837 Chestnut Boulevard, Cuyahoga Falls, for visitation Friday, November 9th from 10 to 11 AM, followed by a Memorial Service at 11 AM. Private burial at Rose Hill Burial Park.
