Obituary for Jeffrey Singh Johl Jeffrey Singh Johl was born October 29, 1961, in Yuba City, California, and ascended the Stairway to Heaven on September 7, 2018. He was only 56 years old. He was a lifelong resident of Yuba City, California, and he graduated from Yuba City High School in 1980.

He was a farmer by profession, but a jack of all trades by all other accounts. Jeff was a man who loved a good laugh and was a friend to all. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, his wonderful smile, his generous friendship, and his resolve.

We will treasure our days spent with Jeff. He was definitely one of a kind. Jeff was larger than life and was known for his long, entertaining stories, which he loved to tell.

Jeff was a Star Trek aficionado, an all things farming encyclopedia, and always the most fun person at any gathering. He was a hard working man that loved a good laugh, loud rock music, and an honest day of work. We will miss the friend who was always quick with a funny line, who was always eager to go off on another adventure, who fought with us and loved us with equal passion.

We will miss the brother, the son, the boy who tested his limits, who brought home the accolades, who befriended and defended the vulnerable. We’ll mourn the man who’s gone, whom we lost so suddenly, but we’ll remember him, and remember that above all, he would want us to honor him as he lived, on the fearless edge of what was possible. Jeffrey is survived by his mothers, Retha Gray and Satnam Johl; his long time and loving companion of 25 years, Brenda Welch of Yuba City; sisters, Stephanie Oaxaca of Livingston, Gina Oaxaca of Merced, Nina Kahlon of Yuba City, Rupi Sandhu of Yuba City; brother, Sonny Johl of Vacaville; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father, Harbhajan S. Johl. Services will be held Sunday, September 16, 2018, at Ullrey Memorial Chapel, 817 Almond Street, Yuba City, CA. Traditional Sikh prayer will begin at 11:00 AM followed with funeral services at 12:00 Noon.
