Obituary of Jennie Lou Vader Jennie Lou Vader, 86, of Akron, our generous, loving, dignified, and most devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully on the evening of Thursday, November 15, 2018 at her home, with her loving family by her side. Jennie was born on July 3, 1932 in Sebewaing to the late Walter and Rose (Dutcher) Jahr. She graduated from Unionville High School in 1951 and married her loving husband, Donald “Bud” Vader the same year at the Nazarene Church in Bay City.

Jennie and Donald celebrated 67 years of marriage this summer. Jennie became an avid and talented floral designer after enrolling in a floral design class at Delta College with her daughter, Carol, in the early 1980’s. She worked at Limberg’s and Country Garden Flower Shops and enjoyed attending the many floral design conventions.

Jennie and Don were blessed with many travel excursions around the world, including Alaska, Central America, Ireland, and South Africa; but their favorite destination was always returning home to their family and Vader Farms. Jennie was a woman of great faith and love, who always put the needs of others before her own. Jennie leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband, Donald and their three children: Douglas (Vickie) Vader, Nancy Vader-McCormick and her husband, John McCormick, and Carol (Mike) Finn.

Jennie was the beloved grandmother of Davis Vader, Dan (Katie) Vader, Dustin (Cassandra) Finn, Megan (Erik) Elken, and Chase Finn (fiancé, Megan Keyser). Jennie was blessed with six beautiful great-grandchildren, all of whom brought great joy, love, and laughter into her life. Her brother, Ramon Jahr predeceased her and two brothers, Harrison Jahr and Don (Shirley) Jahr survive her, along with her sister-in-law, Flossie Jahr and many nieces and nephews.

Jennie was blessed with the love, devotion, dedication, and care of several devoted caregivers over the past three years of her life, including: Karen Marker, Brenda Ryan, Pam Kelly, Jennifer Townsend Connors, Susan Kennedy, Cassie Gillard, Ann Arnold, and Kennedy Grant. The family wishes to express their love and gratitude to these special angels for the beauty and dignity they brought to Jennie’s life as she courageously battled Parkinson’s Disease. In addition, the family extends gratitude to McLaren Hospice for their dedicated support and compassionate care over the past six weeks.

Sweet Jennie, ever so elegant, gracious, and witty will be greatly missed, yet lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
