Crainville Jerry Edward Lawrence, 71, of Crainville, passed away Wednesday, August 29, 2018, at his home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 4, 2018, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carterville, with Fr. Richard Mohr officiating.

Burial will be at San Carlo Cemetery in Herrin. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or to Zoe Raber’s go fund me page at www. gofundme.com/zoeraber.

Jerry was born on September 25, 1946, in Detroit, Michigan, to Edward James and Mayme Margaret (Hibbs) Lawrence. He married Barbara Orthal on November 20, 1982, in Hanover Park, Illinois. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Lynne Lawrence of Crainville; children, Christopher (Jackie) Lawrence of Elgin, Tracy Ann (Chris) Newman of Carterville, Amy Margaret Turner of Crainville, and Samantha (Scott) Raber of Lincoln, Nebraska; and 8 grandchildren, William Christopher Weiher, Jake Emmanuel Turner, Matthew Edward Turner, Alison Margaret Turner, Zachary Edward Lawrence, Brennen Daniel Hale, Zoe Lynne Raber, and Max Thomas Raber.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents. He was retired, having worked at Social Security for 30 years. He was a SIU alum, avid Carterville High School football and basketball fan, he had a love for history and the St. Louis Cardinals.
