As per Jerry’s wishes he has been cremated and there are no services scheduled. Jerry Ray Selby, the son of Ernest and Katheryne Coop Selby was born on December 29, 1951 in Newton, Iowa. He attended Newton Community Schools.

Jerry served his country in the U. S. Army from April 1969-January 1972 during the Vietnam War. Jerry retired as a production worker from the Maytag Company in Newton. Jerry died on Saturday, June 2, 2018, at his home in Newton.

He was 66. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Katheryne Selby; wife, Joann Holler Marcus Selby; stepson, Patrick Patterson; and sister, Rosemarie Sanders. Those left to honor Jerry’s memory are his daughter, Desiree (Rick) Vaughn of Newton; two grandchildren, Sage Fischer and Sawyer Vaughn; his stepchildren, Paula Daniels of Marionville, Missouri, Dean Patterson of Newton and Kevin (Marcie) Patterson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; ten step grandchildren, seven step great-grandchildren; his brothers, Terry Selby (Robbin Fees) of Albia and Garry (Debra) Selby of Newton; sister, Rosealee (Jack) Rhodes of Albia; and special friends, Keith Weter of Newton and Anita Bayles of Newton.
