Richard “Dick” Craig Allen, 77, of rural Newton died on Thursday, July 19, 2018, at his home. A celebration of life will be held from 2-5 p.m., Saturday, July 28, 2018, at his farm, 3947 Hwy 14 N., Newton. Memorials to Dick’s family may be left at the celebration or at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.

Dick, the son of Leonard and Virginia (Brooks) Allen, was born on September 24, 1940 in Newton. He was a lifelong resident of Newton and graduated from Newton High School in 1959. Dick was a lifelong farmer, farming North of Newton.

He also worked at the Maytag Dairy Farm and later at the Maytag Company where he retired from. Dick was a member of the Minneapolis Moline Collectors and had a passion for restoring Minneapolis Moline Tractors and Farm Equipment. Dick is survived by his children, Tammy Smith of Newton and Tim (Judy) Allen of Riverside, California; grandchildren, Nathan (Sarah) Smith, Nick Smith, Chelsea Johnson, and Alisa Allen; his great-grandson, Colton Johnson; and sister, Judy Allen of North Liberty.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
