Jessie Ruth Ling, 87, of Jefferson City, passed away Thursday, June 7, 2018, at Jefferson City Manor Care Center after a short stay. She was born October 16, 1930, in Vienna, Missouri, the daughter of the late Henry Warren and Eva Eunice (Bassett) Gillispie. She graduated from Vienna High School in 1948.

She was united in marriage on June 10, 1950, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Owensville, Missouri to Roger Virgil Ling, who preceded her in death on August 27, 2014. Retiring in January 1993, she worked twenty-one years for Capital Region Medical Center as a physical therapy assistant. In earlier years, Jessie worked for International Shoe Company, Bland, Missouri, where she met Roger and fell in love.

Jessie was a member of the Cathedral of St. Joseph where she served on the RCIA team, Cursillo and volunteered faithfully in the Adoration Chapel for many years. She was also an active member of the National Federation of the Blind-Jefferson City Chapter. Jessie was raised on “The Bend” along the Gasconade River and it held a special place in her heart for her entire life.

Together with her husband and family, they shared many happy days camping, enjoying the outdoors, and traveling. She enjoyed the beach and being in the sun. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, and making jams and jellies.

Survivors include two daughters, Carol (James) Underwood, New Bloomfield; Paula (Dan) Sanning, Taos; one son, Kevin (Lisa Branson) Ling, Russellville; seven grandchildren, Ashley Trail, Dana (John) Kreidler, Evan (Donna Fidler) Sanning, Maureen Sanning, Joshua Ling, Jordan Wilson, Cody (fiancé Amber Haas) Ling; five great-grandchildren, Mason Underwood-McClure, Jack Kreidler, Clara Underwood, Molly Kreidler, London Wilson; Malissa (Jeff) Briggler and Mary and Samuel Briggler; and one sister, Lucille (Richard) Smith, Fayetteville, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roger; one grandson, Aaron Maddox Underwood, and two sisters and their husbands, Bonnie (Glen) McEwen, and Lorraine (Loren) Rice. Visitation will be 9:30-11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 9, 2018 at the Cathedral of St. Joseph.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 9, 2018, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph with the Rev. Daniel J. Merz officiating. Burial will be in James Community Cemetery, Vienna, Missouri at a later date.
