Jimmy Wayne Copeland, 72 formerly of Charlestown, IN passed away on Saturday November 17, 2018 in Fairhope, AL. He was born on July 20, 1946 in Dawson Springs, KY to Bailey and Wanda Copeland. He was a 1966 graduate of Charlestown High School, an Army veteran of the Vietnam War where he received a Purple Heart.

He was a member of American Legion Post 335 and V.F.W. Post 1427 and a retired switchman for CSX Railroad. He enjoyed fishing and watching any and all sports. He was active in veterans support groups and organizations and enjoyed being with his family and traveling to Indiana to visit his family and friends here.

Jimmy is survived by his wife, Rita Copeland; daughters, Christy Draper (Derek) of Bel Air, MD and Jamie Sowards (Terry) of Pound, VA; his little buddy, Isaiah Lay; brother, Tim Copeland of Leitchfield, KY; step-daughters, Mitzi Salac, Kelly Rhea, Stacy Dickson and Tammy Munsey all of Alabama; grandchildren, Jason and Alex Draper, Tiffany Sowards and 6 more in Alabama; great granddaughter Alexa Bolling and 1 more in Alabama. Funeral services will be at 5 pm on Saturday November 24, 2018 at Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown. Graveside services will be on Sunday at 11 am C.S.T. Piney Grove Cemetery in Dawson Springs, KY.

Visitation will be after 1 pm on Saturday. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Legion Post 335 or V.F.W. Post 1427.
