Obituary for Joan Kaufman Joan E. Kaufman, longtime resident of Clinton Township, died peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on July 3, 2018. She was 89 years of age. Joan was born on April 10, 1929 in Detroit, Michigan, daughter of the late William and Adeline (Ricketts) Bradt.

She was united in marriage to her loving husband, Donald, on March 3, 1951. The couple resided in Detroit until making their home in Clinton Township in 1964 The couple was blessed with three beautiful children of whom they loved and cherished. Joan dedicated her life to her family and was the epitome of a great mother, grandmother and devoted wife.

Her family always came first and she made sure her children were raised with Christian values in a loving home. Joan had a kindred spirit and a heart of gold. She enjoyed helping where needed and was always giving.

In her younger years, she loved playing basketball and was always an avid reader. Joan enjoyed gardening and playing cards. She enjoyed her occasional trips with friends and always looked forward to her Wednesday ladies lunch with family.

Joan enjoyed all God’s creature’s, her Jack Daniels and just loved her musicals. It was her by her strong faith in the Lord that got her through all life’s ups and downs. Joan will always be known for her baking, cooking and her wonderful sense of humor.

She will be deeply missed and her light will continue to glow in our hearts forever. Joan is the devoted wife of the late Donald; cherished mother of Nancy Kalmbach and the late Kenneth and Mark D. Kaufman; cherished mother-in-law of Karen Kaufman, Pam Roach and the late Bradly Kalmbach; dearest grandmother of Kimberly, Shae (Steve) and Bradly (Sheryl); dear great grandmother of Dylan, Jocee and Jacob; beloved sister of Barbara and the late Phyllis, Marion and Philip; and loving aunt to many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be at 11am in American Lutheran Church, 38795 Mulberry St, Charter Twp of Clinton, MI 48036 on Friday, July 13, 2018.
