Joan Laughlin February 04, 2019 Share this obituary Send Sympathy Gifts View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Joan Lucille Laughlin age 83 of Lexington, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, Monday, February 04, 2019, in Oklahoma City. She was born Nov. 12, 1935, in Lexington, the 5th child of eight children born to Homer Duffy and Lola Mae (Claunch) Duffy.

Joan grew up in Lexington and attended Lexington Schools, graduating in 1952. She married James Laughlin on Jan. 25, 1952, in Okla.

City and together they raised four children. For the first 20 years of marriage, Joan and James lived in various towns before moving back to Lexington in 1972. Joan worked hard as a mother and homemaker, and as a business owner and property manager.

For many years she owned and operated Queen Fashions Dress Shop in Purcell and Joan’s Dress Shop in Lexington. She and James also built two convenient stores in Lexington, ONE East and the Lexington Quick Stop. Joan was a faithful Christian and a longtime member of the Lighthouse Worship Center in Purcell.

She was active in Lexington community affair and was instrumental in establishing the Annual Lexington 89er Day Parade. After James retired, they enjoyed traveling during the summer months and fishing in Colorado and Arkansas. Joan loved to stay busy, later in her life she became active in a support group called the Alpha Okies.

A group giving support to individuals and families who were fighting the Alpha 1 Lung Disease. Joan was currently serving as the secretary-treasurer of the club. Joan also enjoyed oil painting and china painting.

Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by: Parents, Homer and Lola Mae Duffy, Husband, James Laughlin in 2014, Son, James Allen Laughlin, A Niece whom she raised, Beth Diane Willingham, Great nephew, Dalton Lynn Nelson, Five siblings, Virginia Morris, Charles Duffy, Ida Lee Mantooth, Deloris Parrish and Richard Allen Duffy.

She is survived by: Three children, Janet Fundaro and husband Leo of OKC, Judy Lawson and husband Terry of Lexington, Jeff Laughlin of Cache, OK. One sister, Margaret Womack and husband Don of Noble, One brother, Bob Duffy of Norman, Six grandchildren, James Lawson of Lexington, Tony Fundaro and wife Martina of Dallas, TX, Jay Laughlin and wife Morgan of Edmond, Maria Davidson and husband Shad of Yukon, Sara Birdtail and husband William of Yukon and Jace Laughlin of OKC. 12 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
