Joe L. “Komer” “Junie” Hernandez, 73, of Loving, New Mexico, passed away Thursday, January 10, 2019 at Goodlife Assisted Living. Visitation will be 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Monday, January 14, 2019 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A vigil is scheduled for 7:00 PM, Monday, January 14, 2019 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel.

Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 10:00 AM, Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at San Jose Catholic Church with Fr. Martin Cordero officiating. Interment will follow in Loving Cemetery, Loving, New Mexico.

Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Joe L. Hernandez was born January 27, 1945 in Carlsbad, NM to Jose Hernandez, Sr. and Maria (Leon) Hernandez. He served his country as a U.S. Marine.

Joe worked for Loving Municipal Schools as a janitor and retired after 25 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers: Ismael Hernandez, Juan Hernandez, Oscar Hernandez and sister, Elisa (Licha) Rodriguez. Survivors are his daughter, Chelsey Flores and husband, Gio of Carlsbad, New Mexico; granddaughter, Gianeley Flores; sisters: Socorro Hernandez of California, Maria (Tiche) Rico and Hilda Salmon, both of San Jose, California; brothers: Armondo Hernandez of Phoenix, Arizona, Fernando Hernandez of Las Cruces, NM and 44 nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Gio Flores, Oscar Granado, Mikie Martinez, Jackie Rodriguez, Javier Rodriguez and Joey Rodriguez.
