Joe Washburn, 87, of Johnson City, passed away on Friday, May 3, 2019 at his home. He was born in Springfield, KY, and was the son of the late Ray and Agnes Goatley Washburn. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Lou, great-great-grandson, Declan Green, four brothers, four sisters, special nephew, Junnie Washburn, and brother-in-law, David Shirley.

Those left to cherish Joe’s memory include his loving wife of 66 years, Ruby Shirley Washburn, children: Rose Ann Street and her husband Dickey, Joey Washburn, and Donna Washburn; grandchildren: Jonathan Washburn, Christopher Ford; great-grandchildren: Ashley Green, Casey Washburn, Caleigh Cook, and Brayden Washburn; great-great-grandchildren: Mason, Raylan, and Aligha; sister-in-law, Shirley Shirley, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Wayne and Mary Shirley, several nieces and nephews. The family would like to offer a special thank you to nurse Laura Smith with Amedysis Hospice for the loving care she provided to Joe and the family. The family will greet friends to share memories on Monday, May 6, 2019 from 5:00 pm until a Celebration of Joe’s life at 7:00 pm in the Sunrise Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Services, Johnson City, with Pastor Wilkie Brookshire officiating.

A Graveside service will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday at Washington County Memory Gardens with Pastor Gary Cole officiating. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery by 9:50 am.
