John B. Merrifield, 51, of Cumberland, passed away July 20, 2018 at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence. He was the husband of Veronica (Rice) Merrifield, whom he married May 2, 1992. Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of Walter and Claire (Dumas) Merrifield of Micco, FL.

He worked as a welder for Rolls Royce Naval Marine Inc. in Walpole, MA. Besides his parents and his wife Veronica, John is survived by a daughter, Samantha Merrifield of Cumberland; fur-son, Beamer; a grandson, Jaxson Lambert; a brother, Scott Merrifield and his wife Cheryl of Micco, FL; a sister, Michelle Fiddes and her husband Christopher of Coventry; his mother-in-law Jackie Rice; sister-in-law Melissa Rice; his “daughter #2, Paige LaBreche; as well as nieces and nephews, Zack Rice, Jake Pimental-Rice, Jasmine Rosa, Matthew Merchant, Sara Fiddes, and Ryan Fiddes, as well as many, many great “best” friends. He is predeceased by his father-in-law Victor “Jack” Rice, and his sister-in-law Lisa Rosa.

Visitation hours will be held Thursday, July 26, 2018 from 4 – 7 PM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket, with words of remembrance to be shared at 7 PM. Burial will be private.
