OBITUARY John Howard Dupea October 17, 1930 – October 3, 2018 Born in Seattle, Washington to Thomas and Pauline (Potter) Dupea. He graduated from Franklin High School. While attending College he joined the Air Force and served from 1951-1955, during the Korean War before being honorably discharged.

He was with the 17th Air Transport Squadron as a SSgt Flight Traffic Specialist. He was decorated with the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the German Occupation Medal. He volunteered as a Baseball Coach/assistant coach for his son’s Baseball team, along with volunteering his help with the Blue Birds and Camp Fire Girls for his daughters.

He retired from US West in 1990 after 29 years. Traveling brought dad so much joy. Places like New Zealand and Australia were exciting trip as he and Maxine traveled via a motorhome.

They also took trips through the Panama Canal, North Pole, South Africa and India. Hunting was a passion that he also enjoyed. Whether by walking or shooting off his friend’s porch when he was not able to walk very far meant a lot to him.

Fishing and camping with his kids and grandkids were other activities that he enjoyed. He loved to share the outdoors with his family. His planning ahead for meals will surely be missed.

He is survived by his wife Maxine of 28 years; daughters Margaret (Dan Griffin), Betty (widow of Paul Waech), Donna (John Gerasimczyk Jr) and son John A (Cindy). Sisters Pauline (widow of Jim Clark) and Viola (Dale Fulbright). Grandchildren : Crystal Waech, Sarah and Daniel Griffin, John Gerasimczyk III and John Paul Dupea.

Great-grandchildren : Zachary Dupea-Waech, Logan and Lily Brister and several nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents and brother Thomas Dupea. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Veterans Memorial, Alzheimer’s Association or a charity of your choice in his name would be appreciated.

Graveside Services will be held at Purdy & Walters at Floral Hills.
