John J. Griesinger III died Tuesday evening, October 23, 2018, at the family residence. He was born in Steubenville, Ohio on November 29, 1940 the son of the late Judge John Jacob & Hilda Owens Griesinger. John served in the 82nd Airborne as a paratrooper during the Viet Nam War, after which he graduated from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio with a B.A. degree.

John taught in the Toronto School System. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his sister, Gwynne H. Griesinger. John is survived by his sister Mary Owen (Mrs. Ronald E.) Long and two nephews Owen Long & Trevor Long.

Graveside services at Union Cemetery on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Jason Elliott, pastor of First Westminster Presbyterian Church, officiating. Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad will conduct military honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to The Grand Theater Restoration Project, 121 North Fourth Street, Steubenville, Ohio 43952.
