John Jesse Modrich May 04, 1963 – March 23, 2019 Share this obituary Send Sympathy Gifts Sign Guestbook John Jesse started life with a hole in his heart from a congenital defect, spending time at Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago. His passing on Saturday leaves a hole in the hearts of all who knew him. After his birth, his parents were warned by doctors that John might only live a few months.

John didn’t know any of this so he lived for the next 55 years, buoyed by his cheerful outlook on life, and the wonderful and attentive care of his parents. John didn’t attend school for long; instead he taught us: always smile when you can, enjoy the music and get plenty of naps. Growing up John loved the Cat in the hat and watching cartoons.

He was a mischievous little scamp who didn’t talk, but still had plenty to say. As he grew older, he slowed down, but still seemed to enjoy life a lot, rocking in his chair for hours. The youngest of five children, John is survived by his brothers and sisters Tom (Mary) Modrich, Anita (Mike) Lubinski, Nick Modrich, Char Nissen, along with many cousins and nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Marion Modrich. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday March 29, 2019 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Mauston. Rev.

John Potaczek will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 12 noon until the time of the service.

The Crandall Funeral Home is assisting with the arrangements.
