John Lawrence Hemming, 99, was born July 9, 1919 in Carnegie, OK to Joseph and Ida (Nocker) Hemming. He passed away July 12, 2018. Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 17, 2018 from 10am-2pm; Wednesday, July 18, 2018 from 10am-2pm and Thursday, July 19, 2018 from 10am-7pm; wake services will be held Thursday, July 19, 2018 at 7:00pm at Crew’s Funeral Home.

Funeral mass will be held Friday, July 20, 2018 at 10:00am at Mother of Sorrows Parish. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery under direction of Crew’s Funeral Home. John grew up in the Alden area where he graduated high school.

After high school he enlisted in the United States Navy. After his honorable discharge from the Navy he worked at Tinker Air Force Base as a civilian; he later worked for Modern Landscape for many years. He married Alma on October 11, 1948.

She preceded him in death. John enjoyed looking for arrowheads, jug line fishing and camping. Survivors include his children: David and wife Brenda Hemming; Robert and wife Roseann Hemming; Ruth and husband Brad West; Michael and wife Jerry Ann Hemming; and Theresa Nolen; grandchildren: Ryan and Kylie Hemming; Sara and John Hemming; Shelly Reniger; Tara Cottrell; Miranda Garrison; Tiffany and Ashley Nolen; great-grandchildren: Ivey, Stephen, Josh, Jaidyn, Cole, Clara and Laurence; brother, Herbert Hemming.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Alma Ruth Hemming; siblings: James Hemming; Edward Hemming; Mary Douchinsky; George Hemming; Nellie Douchinsky; son, James Hemming and granddaughter, Barbara McComas.
