Obituary for John “Melvin” Thames Mr. John “Melvin” Thames of Hogansville passed away December 15, 2018. He served his country in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Thames retired from Southern Bell after 30 years of service and was a lifelong member of Union Christian Church.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Betty Thames of Hogansville; daughter, Gwen Marler of Dallas; son, Barry Thames and his wife Lorraine of Newnan; brother, Doug Thames of Newnan; grandchildren, Brandon; Whitney; Daniel and Steven and great grandson, Maddox. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at 11 o’clock in the Chapel of Parrott Funeral Home with Minister Allan Thames and Minister Dale Hutchins officiating. Interment will follow at Union Christian Church Cemetery.
