John’s Obituary John Wesley Saunders, age 74 of Robert Beck Road, Lexington passed away Friday night March 15, 2019 at Hinkle Hospice House. A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at Bethany United Methodist Church conducted by Revs. David Talbert and Benny Clodfelter.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church fellowship hall following the committal service. John was born in Newport News Virginia on June 22, 1944 to Paul Burton Saunders and Gladys Ritchie Saunders.

John was the owner and operator of The Lawn and Garden Center for 45 years, he attended Western Carolina University and was a huge NC State Fan. He was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church where he served as head usher for 32 years and served on many other committees over the years. He served in the National Guard and was proud to be an Eagle Scout.

Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Linda Johnson Saunders of the home; daughter, Leigh Saunders Brame and husband Greg of Raleigh; grandson, Grayson Daniel Brame of Raleigh.
