John Wesley Sprankle, 71, of Wooster, died Tuesday, October 30, 2018 surrounded by his family. Friends may call Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster. Funeral services will be Saturday at 3 at the funeral home with Pastor Eric Fairhurst officiating.

John was born May 30, 1947 in Wadsworth, Ohio to John Wesley and Gladys {Anderson} Sprankle. John graduated from Wadsworth High School and then earned his masters at Kent State. He married Holly Alexander on May 14, 1997.

John taught Science for 26 years at Wadsworth High School. He also coached Cross Country and Track for many years. John was the “Herb Guy” at the Wooster Farmers Market.

He enjoyed planting in his green houses and high tunnels and being outside on the farm. John will be missed by his wife and children; Jennifer (Darrel) VonRatibor, Alyssa (Paul) Katanic, Jacquelyn Sprankle, Tyler Sprankle, and Jameson Sprankle; 14 grandchildren; sisters Marci (Gary) Cottrill and Patricia Mopkins. John was preceded in death by his parents.
