Obituary of John Stammers Boonville- John R. Stammers. 65, of Lachausse Road, husband, of Kathi, passed away on Thrusday, October, 25, 2018, at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, Utica, while surrounded by his family after a brief illness. John was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on September 7, 1953, a son of Reginald and Mary (Kwasniewski) Stammers.
He grew up in Philadelphia, where he graduated from Pennsbury High School. On August 29, 1985, John was united in marriage to Kathi Race, in Cape May, NJ, where they resided for twenty years before moving to Boonville. John was a lifelong truck driver, driving tank trucks and trucks transporting commodities.
He retired in 2006, from H.R. Ewell Trucking Co. of Lancaster, PA. For many years, John also owned and operated his own deep sea fishing charter boat service, known as Marcella-T, of Cape May, NJ. He especially loved fishing with his dad, brothers, and sons.
He also enjoyed long conversations and political arguments with his mother and his sons. He was proud of his sons and daughter in law for their accomplishments in life thus far. Becoming a papa was one of the most joyful moments in his life.
He loved spending time with his granddaughter Ryleigh and Grandson Coltin. He treasured the many hours spent with his brother in law, Bob Race, with who he was extremely close with, while playing poker, talking about truck driving and creating an infamous fish tank. In addition to his loving wife, Kathi, John is survived by two sons, John Michael (Ashley) Boonville, Timothy, Fairfield, CT; two grandchildren, Ryleigh and Coltin Stammers, Boonville and his mother, Mary Stammers of Morrisville, Pennsylvania.
John greatly enjoyed spending time and visiting with his siblings; two sisters, Barbara Stammers and Patricia (Doug) Sieber; two brothers, Joseph (Yvonne) Stammers, James (Barbara) Stammers, all of Pennsylvania. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews, which he enjoyed special bonds with. He was predeceased by his father, Reginald Stammers.
John’s family wishes to express a note of heartfelt appreciation and thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at the CICU unit at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, for the excellent care and compassion which they gave to John. In keeping with John’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. A private ceremony will be held at his family’s convenience.
