Jon Anderson passed away peacefully at his home in the arms of his family. Jon was born in Two Harbors, Minnesota on February 20, 1944 and died on May 7, 2018. Jon graduated from Two Harbors High School in 1962.

He then started work for a contractor with the DM&IR T&T Department (telephone & telegraph). Jon served in the US Army for 6 years. He served active duty from 1964 to 1967 and Army Reserves 1967 until he was discharged in 1970.

Jon was a member of the American Legion Post 109, was always very proud of his service to his country and always patriotic. Jon married Deborah Robb on December 16, 1972 in Luck, Wisconsin. Within the first week of marriage they added a puppy to their family and from that time always had a dog.

Jon and Debbie have a son and a daughter whom Jon has always been very proud of. During his life Jon worked as an engineer for the telephone company. He retired in 1993 from Verizon Communications.

Jon was honored to receive Two Harbors Citizen of the Year award and key to the city in 2002. He also served on numerous committees and commissions with the City of Two Harbors and Lake County over the years. Jon loved the time he spent with his family, having coffee with his buddies at Judy’s Cafe, watching the kids enjoy the family cabins affectionately named Camp Jon and of course just hang’n on the porch with his wife and dog, Horace.

Jon is preceded in death by his parents Alvin (Andy) and Milla Anderson, brother Dan, brother in-law Roger Boben, sister-in-law Lois Anderson and father-in-law Mike Robb. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Debbie, son Shane (Jen), daughter Erin (Dan) Carlson all of Two Harbors, brother Jack (Joan) Anderson of Woodbury, MN, sisters Gerry (Don) Graden of Two Harbors, Sandra “Punky” Boben of Proctor, sister-in-law Barb Anderson of Castle Danger; and many nieces and nephews and of course his 4-legged companion, Horace. Visitation will be from 1PM until the 2PM Memorial Service Friday, May 11, 2018 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Two Harbors.

Burial will be a private family service.
