Jose A. “Jody” Martinez, Sr., 60, of Loving, NM, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2019 at his home. There will be no visitation. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 18, 2019 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Melvin Balderrama officiating.

Interment will follow in Loving Cemetery, Loving, NM. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Jody was born August 4, 1958 in Carlsbad, NM to Victor and Gregoria (Salmon) Martinez.

Later, he married Rose Ann Armendarez and they had a wonderful 38 years together. Jody served his country in the U.S. Navy and reserves from 1976-1987. He worked for DCP Midstream for 26 years as a measurement technician.

Jody loved to ride his Harley Davidson and loved to go fishing. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and always enjoyed watching a game. Jody was always the life of the party making everyone laugh.

Having never met a stranger, he had a special way of touching people’s lives and loving those around him. He was an amazing father and grandfather who will be missed and remembered always. He was preceded in death by his mother, Gregoria Martinez.

Survivors are his wife, Rose Ann Martinez of Loving, NM; sons: Jeffrey Martinez and wife, McKenzie of Carlsbad, NM; Deffrey Martinez and wife, Jennifer of Carlsbad, NM; Joey Martinez and wife, Darla of Loving, NM; Julian Martinez of Carlsbad, NM; 16 grandchildren; father, Victor Martinez of Loving, NM; siblings: Nancy Martinez, Yolanda Calderon and husband, Dan, Marty Martinez and Minnie Franco, all of Loving, NM and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Pallbearers will be Tom Armendarez, Harry Leyva, Ralph Vasquez, Dan Calderon, Abel Castillo, Albert Castillo, Freddy Anguiano, Sam Fierro, Roddy Calderon and Marty Martinez. Honorary pallbearers are Daniel Calderon, Jeffrey Chavez, Tom Collins, Jorge Trevizo, Bobby Parraz and all of Jody’s biker brothers and sisters.
