Jose Barraza Lopez passed away at his home on September 17, 2018 after being in and out of Davis Hospital and Thatcher Brook Rehabilitation and Care Center for approximately six months. He was born in Camino Real Piaxtla, Municipal of San Ignacio, Sonora Mexico. His father was Perfecto Barraza and his mother was Cleofas Lopez Mexia both of Mexico.

Jose worked as a security guard in the Hotel Playa Mazatlan for almost 15 years. It was while he was working in the Hotel Playa that he met the love of his life, Hedwig M. Bachinger Wheadon in 1983. They were married in Obregon, Sonora Mexico on September 29, 1987.

Shortly thereafter he came to Layton, Utah where he lived until his passing. Jose and Hedwig enjoyed taking cruises and sightseeing. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hedwig and both his parents.

Surviving are two sisters Martha Barraza Sarabia, and Emma Barraza Sarabia and one brother Alejandro Barraza Sarabia, all of Mazatlan, Sinaloa, Mexico. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 27, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.

Friends may visit family Thursday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.

The family would like to thank Davis Hospital, Thatcher Brook and Community Nursing Services for the loving and tender care given to Jose while he was in their care.
