Obituary for Jose Luis Villarreal Harlingen – Jose Luis (Joe) Villarreal, 71 of Harlingen, TX entered into eternal rest on Friday, June 8, 2018 (two days shy of his 46 year wedding anniversary) surrounded by his loving family. Jose Luis was born to Prajedis and Eloisa Villarreal on April 12, 1947 in San Benito, TX. He lived most of his life in San Jose, CA and spent the last years of his life in Harlingen.

Jose Luis served in the US Army, a veteran of the Vietnam War ERA. At 17 years old he started working as a meat cutter and took his trade to California where he retired after 41 years. He is preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers Usbaldo and Jose Guadalupe Villarreal.

He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years Ester Garcia Villarreal, his son Joel (Diana) Villarreal, and his daughter Anessa Yvette Villarreal; his grandchildren Viauna, Victor, Jessica, Joella, Amber and Jackie; great grandchildren Gabriel, Anthony, Amelia, Lizette and Andrew; a sister Maria Teresa (Martin) Cariaga; brother Celestino (Janie) Villarreal; his Goddaughters Michele Chairez Ramirez, Nancy Gonzalez, Claudia Garcia Ortiz, Lucy Ramos and Amanda Ramirez; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held at Rudy Garza Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 from 2:00 pm – 9:00 pm with a Devine Mercy Chaplet at 6:45 pm followed by a rosary at 7:00 pm. A Eucharistic Service will be celebrated on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at 10:00 am at Queen of Peace Catholic Church.

Followed by with full military honors under the auspices of American Legion Post 205. Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Daniel Villarreal, Daniel Villarreal Jr., Eloy Teran, Armando Cariaga, Jacob Villarreal and Arturo Cariaga Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Martin Cariaga, Jorge Chairez and Celestino Villarreal.
